Meal Verification

Why Was My Meal Rejected?

Quick Intro

The most common reasons a meal does not pass review and what to do differently next time.

A meal can be rejected even if it really was plant-based. The most common reason is that the photo did not make that clear enough for Plantee to verify confidently.

Plantee is built around visible proof, so a meal needs to look clearly plant-based, complete, and easy to review from the image itself.

Common reasons a meal gets rejected

  • The photo is too blurry, dark, or unclear.
  • The meal is cropped too tightly or does not show enough of the plate.
  • The dish looks more like a snack, side, or partial meal than a full meal.
  • The ingredients are too ambiguous to verify visually.
  • The image does not clearly show a real plated meal.

What usually helps a meal pass

  • Take the photo in good lighting.
  • Show the full meal rather than just one close-up section.
  • Choose an angle that makes the ingredients easy to see.
  • Make sure the meal looks complete and substantial.
  • Use a photo where plant ingredients are clearly visible.

Plant-based does not always mean visually verifiable

This is the part that frustrates people most. A meal may genuinely be plant-based but still not be verifiable from the image.

Plantee can only count what it can confidently confirm from the photo, which is why a clear and complete image matters so much.

If your meal was rejected

Try again with a clearer photo that shows the full meal and makes the ingredients easier to identify. In most cases, improving the photo and meal visibility matters more than adding extra explanation in words.
